CATHOLIC IDENTITY

Saint Cecilia School is a Roman Catholic school of the Diocese of Covington.  The school is dedicated to the teaching of the Catholic faith and the catechises and religious formation of our students, which is evident in our school's mission statement, "We love and serve God through excellence in Catholic education".  This mission is lived out daily through prayer, study, and the formation of Christian values.

Our students are given a variety of opportunities to deepen their religious formation.  In addition to the regular religious education students:

   * attend Holy Mass twice each week.
   * receive the Sacrament of Penance on an average of every 5-6 weeks.
   * prepare for, and receive, the Sacrament of Confirmation during 8th grade.
   * prepare for, and receive, the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist
     during 2nd grade.
   * pray one decade of the Rosary daily for various classrooms, school-wide needs,
     and universal intentions.
   * spend some time in quiet prayer and Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament each
       Thursday.
   * in grades 4-8 have the opportunity to serve at the Altar and to lector during Holy Mass.
   * observe the Church's liturgical year through special seasonal activities such as Stations
of the Cross during Lent, lighting of Advent wreaths, celebrating important Feast Days
of school, and classroom Patron Saints, etc.
   * engage in service projects and apostolic outreach, such as food drives, tag days for
cancer research, praying for the dead, and much more.

Parents, families, and prospective parents/students are invited to join the students in prayer at Mass each Monday and Friday at 8:00 am.  Parents and families are also invited to pray with the students at Stations during Lent, and other special events as announced in the weekly newsletter.

Our Catholic identity is evident upon walking into the building.  We have statues of Our Lady and other Saints, icons outside every classroom, and various religious images in each room of the building.  However, we believe that our Catholic identity is most apparent by the actions and attitudes of our Faculty, Staff, and most especially our Students. We invite all who are interested in our school to visit us and experience the attitudes of prayerfulness, compassion, and joy of our entire school community.
