Academic Information

St. Cecilia School is accredited by the State of Kentucky.  The educational program meets the requirements set by the Diocese of Covington.  Teachers design the classroom instruction based on teaching objectives in accordance with the Diocese.

The students receive a solid program of academic subjects that include: Reading, Spelling, Vocabulary, Phonics, Grammar, Writing, Literature, mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art, Music, Physical Education, Computer ad Library.  provisions are made for individual needs that include additional instruction and view, modifications for learning disabilities and opportunities to excel beyond grade level instruction.  Each classroom or subject area teacher has prepared a syllabus as a means of familiarizing parents with the academic expectations and classroom procedures.

All students, both Catholic and non-Catholic, receive religious and moral training as one of their core subjects.  The religion classes follow the curriculum guidelines established by the Diocese of Covington and are under the jurisdiction of the Pastor.  Students and teachers attend Mass twice each week.  The sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion are celebrated in the second grade.  Students prepare for and receive the sacrament of Confirmation in the eighth grade.  Daily prayer and rosary are an intrinsic part of each day.  Opportunities for service and stewardship modeled after the lives of the saints,  put faith into action and are a part of the school mission.

Terra Nova Testing

St. Cecilia, as a school of the Diocese of Covington, does not participate in the state CATS tests.  the standardized testing system of the Diocese of Covington is the Terra Nova Test, second edition.  These tests are administered every year in the spring to students in grades 3, 5, 6, and 7.  Below you will find the composite national percentile scores for those grade levels from the last two years of testing.  The national percentile score is the percent of students in a norm group whose scores fall below the students' scores.  These scores demonstrate that St. Cecilia students are scoring in the above average range.  The teachers are dedicated to continual improvement and the goal remains for excellence in all aspects of Catholic education: spiritual, liturgical and academic.  Contact the school office if more information on Terra Nova Test is needed.
