Demerit Program for Students in Grades 4-8

Teachers may give demerits at their discretion for behavior violations.  Demerits are accumulated until the end of each quarter, and do not carry over.  Middle School students begin each quarter demerit-free.  Fourth grade students use the demerit system for the third and fourth quarters.

The following are the consequences for the number of demerits received:

Demerits 1 and 2 are warnings -- no consequences
3 Demerits -- Meet with principal
            4 Demerits -- Parental notification
5 Demerits -- After school detention
6 Demerits -- Loss of privilege
            7 Demerits -- Parent meeting
            8 Demerits -- Parental notification and a half-day In-School Suspension
            9 Demerits -- Parental notification and a full-day In-School Suspension
10 Demerits -- Parental meeting and possible suspension from school
NOTE WELL:  If a student receives 5 tardies in one quarter, that student will be issued 1 demerit.
