2.      Complete last weeks work in lieu of the lesson on the corporal works of mercy
3.      Continue to use their journal for personal faith development
4.      State the makeup of the catholic Church as illustrated in the textbook 
       to 100% accuracy
5.      Complete the post-assessment to at least 95% accuracy
6.      State the characteristics of each group that makes up the church
7.      Research a pope and summarize this person in at least a 150 word document, properly typed with 12point, Times New roman, double spaced
8.      Share their summary with the class
9.      Name at least one person in each part of the church
 
Instructional Strategy(ies):
Teacher will:
1.  Guide the students as they write in their prayer journals
2.      Lead the students in discussion about the makeup of the church
3.      Distribute, evaluate and record the scores to the assessment
4.      Set up guidelines for the research on a pope as stated above
5.      Assist as needed in meeting individual learning needs an in the completion of the research assignment

State the significant highlights of the world as illustrated in the textbook to 100% Research one of the New testament writers and summarize this persons life in at least a 150 word document, properly typed with 12pt, Times New Roman, double spaced
            Share their summary with the class

Catholic Religion Grade 7

The Catholic Faith is the heart and soul of all we do here at St. Cecilia Catholic School.  During Religion class, students learn the fundamentals of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and are presented with opportunities to internalize and practice their faith in their daily lives.  This is accomplished by using the Diocesan mandated textbook; RCL’s Blest Are We: Faith and Word Edition, Sacred Scripture, daily recitation of the Rosary, Angelus, and other Catholic prayers, Adoration of the Most Holy Blessed Sacrament, celebration of the Holy Mass and special feasts of the Church, study of the saints and practical application of our faith in our day to day dealings with one another. 

Theme:  The Life of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Section 1: The Mystery of the Incarnation

Section 2:  The Meaning of the Kingdom

Section 3:  The Christian Life

Section 4:  The Paschal Mystery

Section 5:  The Good News 

Methods:  Students will take notes over the various lessons, interact with class discussion, and participate in Smart Board activities, as well as take quizzes and tests over the material covered.  Students will keep a prayer journal and a Religion notebook.  Students will also complete meaningful reflection papers and research topics connected to Sacred Scripture and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Grades:  Percentage grades include homework, in class assignments, research projects, quizzes and tests. 

Expectations:  By the end of Seventh Grade, students will be expected to be spiritually prepared to accept the personal responsibility necessary for the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation during their 8th grade year.
