Dear Parent,
This week we began learning about our first color, blue.
We played Candyland to review the colors and made a blue collage. We read Blue as a Blueberry and found lots of blue
things in our book and room. We blew bubbles with flyswatters, kicked balls and painted with water and brushes outside. We
also worked our fine motor skills by stringing beads to decorate our classroom. The children loved painting with feathers.
We also introduced the children to the Bible and looked at several different kinds. We tried to divide the children into two
groups to do some learning activities, but have decided that it is too difficult for nine children to wait for their turn
during an activity. We will instead incorporate our planned learning activity into our center time. That way we can work with
less children at a time.
We will continue focusing
on blue next week due to our short week. Please have your child wear blue on Thursday, September 9th. We will eat
a blue snack and make a collection of blue items in our classroom.
We hope to see you at the festival this weekend. Enjoy your
time together!

have
some fun in the sun and get to know some other preschool families. This is not mandatory.
Ÿ Please remember that we are eating our lunch and preparing the classroom prior to your child coming to class. Please
do not enter the classroom prior to 11:20 AM so that we can
fully prepare and give your child proper attention when they enter the room. The
daycare is available if you need to drop them off prior to 11:20. If you need to speak with us, we will
be happy to schedule a day and time
to meet.

Dear Parent,
This week we met Mr. B with his beautiful buttons. Some
of the children even found buttons on their clothes. He brought bird nests and feathers and a bowl of bugs for us to investigate.
It was fun to see the children looking for the body parts of the bugs based on what we learned last week. He brought bear
dominoes and a “Baa Baa Black Sheep” game. We copied patterns with bear counters. We sang about
bees, beds, birds, and butterflies and made music with jingle bells that Mr. B brought. We painted with
feathers and blew bubbles with straws in our sensory table. We played with beanbags and tried balancing them on different
parts of our body. Outside we blew bubbles using fly swatters, painted with water and brushes, hit balloons with paper towel
tubes (although they popped pretty quickly due to the dry grass), and kicked balls. We built with blocks
and strung beads. We looked at many different Bibles and found that some of them have pictures for children and some just
have words for grown ups, but they all have stories about Jesus and God. Mr. B even had a friend of his, Miss Jenny, come
from the Library and read books about “B” things to us. Whew! Mr. B kept us very busy!
Since next week is a short week,
we will not introduce a new letter. We will review and work on writing names and drawing people.
We wanted to make a few suggestions of things that can help
your child’s learning process. One of the first words that is special to your child is his/her own name. Learning to
recognize both the letters that compose it and the name itself are precursors to reading. The children also have a very strong sense of accomplishment when they can write their
own name. If your child is having trouble, practice holding your hand over theirs and writing as you explain how to form the
letters. This is something we are doing at school also. When your child brings home letter pages, please
review them with your child.

Attached to this letter is a blue bag paper. Please
help your child fill it with pictures and/ or words that begin with “B.” Please return them by September 10th.
We will compile them into a book for our classroom.

Ÿ Please remember that we need time to prepare the classroom for your child’s day in order to give them the best
of our time with them. We ask you to bring your child to class no earlier than 7:20 AM or 11:20 AM. When children are in the
room prior to that time, we can not fully prepare and greet them appropriately. The daycare is available if you need to drop
them off earlier.
