FESTIVAL WEEKEND
This weekend marks the annual St. Cecilia Labor Day Festival. We are encouraging all
St. Cecilia Families to come out and support the festival. Your support contributes to the purses of the
school. Students who are working the festival will receive stewardship hours. Fr. Mario will validate these
hours on student logs. St. Cecilia teachers will have 2 booths. Don’t forget
to stop by these booths and support our teachers.
E GRADES
Electronic grades are up and running. To access your child/ren grades go to grades.covingtondiocese.org.
You may access your student’s grades at any time. However to do so, you must have your Family
ID and a password. You will receive your ID number by request. Your Family ID number
goes in the first box of the sign in page. In the next box you will put the last four digits of your phone
number. In the second box you place your password, which is your zip code. You will have an opportunity
to change this once you sign in. Once you have entered this information you are able to access your child’s
grades.
Any inquires may be directed to Luann Kohl at lkohl@stcindependence.org or 363-4314 extension 53.This program is for grades 1 – 8.
Kindergarten has a specialized evaluation.
NO SCHOOL
Due to the breakdown of the festival on Tuesday, September 7th, there will
be no school for students. Teachers will be attending an in-service this day. School will resume on Wednesday,
September 8th, 2010. This will give our students only a 3-day school week next week.
EMERGENCY FORMS
Thank you parents for
filling out and returning the emergency and allergy forms. We have 100% compliance for both.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
WEDNESDAY FOLDERS
Congratulations to Grades
2 and 5 for returning 100% of their Wednesday folders to the office by Friday. You will be sweetly rewarded.
AFTER SCHOOL SPECIALS
Parents included in this week’s
Wednesday folders are the applications for this quarter’s after School Specials. Each special will
be held for 5 consecutive weeks starting the week of September 13th. Each special is from 2:20-3:30
and costs $50.00. Students must be picked up at school by 3:30. Both application and
payment needs to be received before a student is officially accepted. Please make checks out to St. Cecilia
School. Each class has limited numbers; so if you are interested don’t hesitate.

SCPTO
On September 14th,
will be the first general meeting for this school year. There will be a dynamic speaker on Teasing vs.
Bullying. We will also have a competition to see what class will have the most parent representation (To
make it fair, Mom and Dad need to count for one). The winning class will win a Homework Coupon as well as that teacher receiving
a gift card. We will provide free babysitting services in the school. Please call the main office to make
reservation for your child/ren. We discourage students from attending the SCPTO meetings.
8th GRADE PARENTS ONLY
On September 14th, before the general SCPTO meeting,
there will be a meeting at 6:30 for 8th grade parents only. Information will be given to the
parents regarding the mandatory YOUTH 2000, as well as an overview of the Confirmation Program and requirements.
After the general meeting, we are asking the 8th grade parents to meet again for 20 minutes with the 8th
grade room mothers, Mary Hock & Beth Warning to discuss 8th grade issues: i.e., the 8th grade field
trip and fund raising. This meeting will be brief and to the point.
Have a safe and healthy Labor
Day Weekend, and I’ll see you at the festival!
