March 10, 2010

Congratulations to all the participants of the Science Fair.  St. Cecilia Students did a sensational job under the guidance of their science teacher Mrs. Barbara Baker.  First place overall winner went to 6th grader Sara Klier who wins a $300.00 stipend to be deducted from her 2010-2011 tuition.  Second place winner is Celeste Bergman who wins a $200. 00 stipend from her ’10-’11 tuition, and third place winner is Matt Kim who wins a $100.00 from his ’10-’11 tuition. Overall Honorable Mention went to 8th grader Jacob Ketron.  Science projects were displayed over the weekend in the Undercroft in order to give parishioners the opportunity to view the creative projects.

Spring Break starts on Holy Thursday, April 1st.  School will resume on Monday, April 12th.

Eighth graders will be receiving their confirmation on Monday, April 12th at 7:00 p.m.  Practice for confirmation will be April 11 at 7PM in church.  Sponsors must attend as well.

Second graders will be receiving First Holy Communion on Saturday, May 8th at 5:00 p.m. Mass.

Parents, in a few weeks you will be receiving a Parent’s Example of the Iowa test that your children will be taking starting the week of April 12th(which is a private transportation week).  Testing will be every day from 8:00 a.m. and continuing to 10:00.  Research shows that students who eat a good breakfast and have enough sleep have better results on national tests.  Along with this booklet will be a schedule of testing times and a letter from me on testing strategies.

Attention Eighth Grade Parents!  A letter of information was given to your 8th grade child on Tuesday, March 9th along with a permission slip.  Please sign this permission slip and have your child return it to Mrs. Davis as soon as possible.  This permission slip was also emailed to you in case your 8th grade child misplaced the hardcopy.

March 16th is an Out of Uniform Day. Any student who wishes not to wear their uniform, and contributes $1.00 for the 8th grade class trip may be exempt for wearing their uniform that day. Students should wear something green in honor of St. Patrick.  On March 17th Grade K-3 are going on a field trip to the Aronoff and Grade 6 will be going to the Art Museum.

Parents remember that Kenton County School’s spring break is the week of April 12th. This is our first week back after our spring break.  There will be no bus service from Kenton County the week of April 12th, so there will be Private Transportation only for that entire week.

REGISTRATION is going on now.  Don’t forget to fill out your Registration Packets for school year 2010-‘11 and return them to St. Cecilia School office.  We want to make sure that each student has a place for next school year.

SCPTO meeting on Wednesday, March 17th,will be in the Undercroft.  If you need babysitting please contact the school office and reserve this service for your child/ren. The limit of students for babysitting is 25.
